Like many, I've personally had it with illegitimate government, and the destruction of any meaningful rule of law in this country, and am barely hanging on to bothering with dialogue with it at all and moving towards advocacy of mass civil disobedience.

What hope have we, as "outsiders", "weirdos", whose very mode of living carries within it a criticism of the choices of the majority, of "carrying the country with us"?
However I would suggest that it is quite unnecessary to carry the country. "Let them be sheep if they want to, the home educators are not for roasting" (to parody the reed roofer). All we need to do is say, long and loud, whenever necessary "NO!

The jails are already overflowing. If nerves are kept, they can't jail us all. The scarier prospect is, of course, that they might try abducting our children. However, again, they would (one hopes) be overwhelmed with the numbers of refusniks.

I still think that, as more and more of this state interference starts to bite, people will turn anyway. It is not just HE, it is now almost everything. Brits are pretty darn slow to anger and even slower to react but once they do - government watch out.

Finally, I wish to thank Diane for this magnificent description of those whom we are up against:

people with dirt in their souls

Default The petition is a trojan horse

Graham Stuart has apparently responded to requests to correct the dangerous wording by saying that people can do what they want but it would be best to stick to the original wording. What reason could there be for this?

Anne Newstead has apparently threatened to sack any EO coordinator that takes up Graham's ludicrous suggestion of being free to vary the wording. Just what would that result in for any coherent presentation to parliament? But THEY could change the wording if they were serious about defending our historic liberty.

Graham Stuart's response seems disingenuous in that it seems more concerned to preserve the original wording than to present an effective petition. The petition to stop the bad man implemntation is probably redundent at this stage and they realise this, especially in view of the tory intention to fillibuster the gueen's speech programme out of time between now and the GE.

It now seems clear to me from Graham and EO's response that the primary intention of this petition is to trick HEers into requesting the next administration for another review of HE after they win the GE, along with continuing the familiar insistence from time immemorial that registration and monitoring was ever legitimate. Since all government now is puppet government anyway, and tory or nulabour take their orders from lisbon regardless, they are no less bound to deliver the 'human resources' bound and helpless to the slave market.

Signing this petition is an act of self enslavement, don't be tricked by this trojan horse.

Oh yes, and don't vote for the permanent government in any of its hard boiled sweet flavours at the next election.

The local EO officer is running around like crazy to make sure people get the petition signed. Unfortunately most people on our local list are blind to the EO and swallow everything they say

I would have thought that the Ofsted developments might have merited much more discussion than this petition which increasingly looks like a diversionary tactic as its chance of "success" is zero. Maybe EO are sharpening their pencils in anticipation of their new role as HE enforcers?

People on this forum have been dealing with this longer than I have, but I'm posting my thoughts anyway. I made a diagram to more easily explain to my kids and partner what may have transpired.

I've just received a letter from David Blunkett, it says...
Thank you for contacting me, I have made representations on your behalf and will be in touch when I receive a response.

The only thing is I don't know if this is in reply to earlier this year when I wrote to him about Badman and Balls or if it about the notice of refusal to cooperate I sent the other day!

Dear Mrs. Sherwood,
Thank You for your email of 13th November concerning the review of home education.

It is my, and the Liberal Democrats belief that parents should be allowed and supported to home educate. Home education can provide a fantastic opportunity for many young people.

The Badman review has some clear flaws, not least in the very short consultation. Home educating parents, as well as other groups, should have been given a much greater chance to contribute to the review.

I also agree that we should avoid creating unnecessary powers for local authorities. However, the right balance must be achieved betwen allowing freedoms which many parents are able to use to give their children the widest opportunities in life, and making sure that all children are receiving a good & safe education.

We believe that parents should notify a new local authority if they move into a new area- there is no requirement for this at present. It is not acceptable that some local authorities almost totally wash their hands of pupils who are being home educated. Many home educators will not want or require support, but, if wanted, assistance should be available, for example to help arrange examinations.

There are a host of reasons why parents choose to home educate their children and we would want to ensure that the child's safety & interests are put first, and that the child's education is given the priority which it deserves.

I am afraid that due to the end of the 2008/09 Parliamentary session on 12th November the Early Day Motion which you mentioned has now fallen. However I shall see if it is re-tabled in the new Parliamentary session after the Queen's Speech this Wednesday (18th November).

I hope this is of use to you in explaining the issue.
Thank You once again for contacting me.
Yours Sincerely
Dan Rogerson.
However in the interim period he also added me as a friend on FB & I sent him a repeat copy of my email plus my notice of refusal to cooperate... no response to that yet... bet he's wishing he hadn't added me now!
