Of course. But remember she is a tool of Ed Ballsup. 'Nuff sed!

Incidentally, if parents decide to send their childer to a private school, would these people make the same stushie? I don't think so!

The child should be seen, preferably alone, in the first 4 weeks of home schooling. This would allow the child's views about being removed from school to be taken into account when assessing the suitability of home education. This is as important to ensure a child is engaged with their education, wherever it may take place.

Ah so is she saying that all schooled children should be seen alone to ensure they are engaging with their education?? oh well after that process Home Educators will be the majority if all children are to be given a choice of place of education .

Hang on a minute
Maggie-2-words you are advocating that
civil servants be given the right of entry to homes and access to children alone without any cause for concern , just merely to erm what was your excuse ?

And yet maggie-2-words Social Workers are restricted to the n'th degree
Quote:
Children & Young Peoples Service

Social Workers have no legal right to enter and search for a child in the normal course of child protection investigations e.g. a Section 47 investigation. They do not even have that power if the child is the subject of an Interim or a Full Care Order. The only circumstances in which Social Workers can enter premises and search for a child is if a specific direction has been made under Section 48(3) Children Act 1989. This direction can only be ordered if an Emergency Protection Order has been made and it authorises a Social Worker to enter premises specified in the EPO and search for the child with respect to whom the Order has been made.

If it is suspected that the Social Worker will be refused entry under Section 48(3), then a Warrant can be attached to the EPO, authorising a Police Officer to assist the Social Worker in the exercise of the powers under Section 48(3), using reasonable force if necessary.

If a child who is the subject of an Interim or Full Care Order is abducted or goes missing, an application for a Recovery Order under Section 50 Children Act 1989 can be made. A Recovery Order authorises a Police Officer to enter any premises specified in the Order and search for the child, using reasonable force if necessary. However, it does not specifically authorise a Social Worker to enter premises.
It doesn't quite add up does it Maggie ??

When you think about it it's all Alice Through the Looking Glass, isn't it?

"Come along, Alice," said the Red Queen. "Your parents are obviously very loving and caring to take you out of a failing school and educate you at expense of their personal lives, jobs and time. Therefore they are obviously extremely bad parents and deserve to be monitored and then put in gaol. And we'll just send you somewhere else to be away from your good bad parents".

The Red Queen laughed hysterically as she let the local authority officials into the house.

I am witholding the source of this news item but it has been verified by others

Quote:
A JUDGE has dem-anded to know who checked on tragic Khyra Ishaq as she starved to death.

A court heard the seven-year-old had not been to school for six months, during which time she wasted away.
Prosecutors said they believed there had been only two attempts to contact her family during that time – one by teachers and another by police.

Both happened a month after the youngster had been taken out of school.

Recorder of Birmingham Judge Frank Chapman asked if either visit had been followed up over the remaining five months of Khyra’s life.
Prosecutor Hayley Firman replied:
“The information I have says that it wasn’t.”
NOTE Khyra was de registered in March until then she was a school pupil was was absent

Tech poiinted me to this blog

on the 16th January 2009, Maggie Atkinson and Graham Badman along with John Coughlan and John Freeman (Joint Presidents of the Association of Directors of Children’s Services (ADCS)) had a 24 hour session with DCSF staff to work on matters relating to the DCSF’s Children’s Plan; three days later the ‘independent’ Badman Review was launched.

Council bashing is well underway in all the media at the moment and it seems to have become something of a national sport. Khyra will just offer up another opportunity for a media frenzy of blame and scapegoating.

The pre budget report has confirmed the need for a public sector pay freeze and big spending cuts, so they haven't a hope of fulfilling all the additional duties Balls seeks to impose on them. There just won't be the foot soldiers to hold the front line.

Home educators will soon outflank overworked council officials who will inevitably fail to provide any 'services', and public vilification will know no bounds as they fail to protect the most vulnerable children as they just won't have the resources.

There should actually be common cause with LAs here (I almost typed common purpose ) as it is slimy Balls and his Fabian friends who are to blame for the whole sorry mess.

Happy Birthday, Elaine.

Methinks I heard Alistair Darling say something about government quangos and some of the rest of his budget today was pinched from the Conservatives.

Let's hope some of the ones to go are those favoured by Balls and co.

Cameron will also find that quangos are useful. It leaves a bigger unanswered question: with so many experts on tap, why don't politicians cull Whitehall?
