Default What text books do you use?

Can anyone offer advice on the best text books to use?
My daughter had been using Teejay for Maths and Nelson for Literacy/Spelling/Comprehension at school. However having looked at samples of these books on the internet, I'm not entirely sure they're the best books.
I bought Schofield and Sims books last year and I think they seem better for problem solving. I'm grateful for any advice.

What age group are you looking at? Do they have to strictly comply with a particular country's school curriculum?

My daughter is 9, will be 10 in January. We're in Scotland and at the moment we do plan on sending her to secondary school here, so may be useful if it does align with scottish curriculum. Having said that, I've looked at the Curriculum for Excellence and it does seem a bit airy fairy!
Thanks.
