Default South Lanarkshire nursery worker admits sex abuse of toddlers

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotlan...-west-18023422

I read this with disgust - and wondered immediately why there was no mention of CRB checks?

Either he was indeed 'a paedophile who hadn't been caught' and therefore passed his check - or the system is total crap, serves no purpose and should be dropped.

Quote:
Mortimer was later found with almost 18,000 indecent images of children..... The first offender is now in prison having admitted a total of five charges relating to sexual assault of children and possessing indecent images of children.

The court heard that Mortimer was a full-time worker at a nursery in Lanarkshire having qualified in 2008.
As he was a first offender, presumably my first supposition is correct. Which still tends to CRB being useless, imo.
