Here we go again. Balls defending the indefensible and publicity seeking at the same time, aided and abetted by the uncritical BBC. Strangely he forgot to mention the inquiry into his mate Badman's review and couldn't even say how many messages he'd received from the public.

Renegade Parent and Blogdial have already taken his statements apart in their respective blog posts, which were discussed in this thread, but the BBC appears unwilling or unable to balance its reporting with an alternative view from one of his (thousands of) critics.

But home educators are not slow to voice their opposition to any kind of official interference.

Many have had unhappy experiences with officialdom in the past, which may be why some are educating their children at home in the first place.

He has forgotten to mention the Select Committee inquiry that is being held into the Badman Report.

He fails to mention that the report breaches UNCRC and human rights.

We know he has received many letters because we have written them pointing out the fact that the report is not fit for purpose.

And if Balls , Badman , Coaker and Morgan know how education should be delivered why are the children this gov has educated going to be employed by the taxpayer as in a scheme thought up by his wife ! is this all that 12yrs education has left them fit for!!!

I am serious in my belief that Ed Balls is some way from sanity about now. CCTV cameras in some homes - yeah, I think he has been after that for a while. Home educators? Yeah, big problem, they make his schools appear to be piles of squidge.

The man looks and, worse still, sounds increasingly manic. He is dangerous. We should contain him.
