Default Dundee fat family's children all now in care

All seven children have now been taken into care by Dundee city Council.

Dundee fat family's children all now in care

Quote:
A Dundee City Council spokesman said: "Local authorities who are involved in the welfare of children have a legal duty to ensure they are protected from publicity that may have a serious effect on them and the council takes seriously this responsibility.
So speaking out publicly is now a safeguarding issue too. There may well be more to this case than has been published, but it's difficult to have faith in any of these so called professionals. Thankfully, the family seem to have some support.

Pity Dundee City Council failed to take steps to protect Brandon Muir.

Default Obese couple get baby back despite 6 children still in care

Obese couple get baby back despite 6 children still in care

Quote:
A children's panel yesterday ruled that the baby could return to the parents' home on condition that they co-operate "100 per cent" with social workers and local care professionals from a families project.

The father, who cannot be named for legal reasons, declared: "We are over the moon. We didn't think it was possible.

"The good news is that we are getting the baby back as soon as the baby is feeling better. She is getting antibiotics and we are hoping to get her home by the weekend. But the other three children got removed today. They were removed from school. So it is good news in one way but sad in another that we are losing the other three children."
It couldn't happen to your family - or could it?

Default 'Too fat' social work row parents reunited with baby

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/sc...6908-21799104/

A COUPLE who had all seven of their children taken into care because they were "too fat" have had their new-born baby returned.

Authorities had taken the little girl away hours after her 40-year-old mum gave birth last month. Dundee City Council were concerned about the weight of her brothers and sisters.

But the 17-stone father yesterday confirmed he and his 23-stone wife now had their baby girl back home.

The 54-year-old dad, who cannot be named to protect the children's identity, said: "We got the baby back on Monday and she's fine.

"We're working with our lawyer to do all we can to get our other children back." The youngsters also have weight problems.

They were removed by social workers following a meeting of the Children's Panel.

Two children aged three and four were taken into care earlier this year.

The council said any decision to remove children from their family would not be made solely on the basis of their weight.

A spokesman yesterday refused to comment on the family's case.

He said: "Any decision about a child's situation is never taken lightly and always at the forefront is what is best for the welfare and safety of the child or children."
