my daughter has been attending nursery and is four years old, i have read the regs and from what i can make out you dont need permission for withdrawing them until they are at school ie P1 upwards. nursery "doesnt count" ?

can someone with more experience and/or knowledge than me please pop along and either affirm that this is correct or point out where im wrong please please please.

i really want to keep things right with the powers that be. less hassle that way!

This link should hopefully help clarify the legal situation.

You only need consent in Scotland to withdraw a child of compulsory education age from a state school s/he has attended on one occasion or more. This is the beginning of the session (August) after which the child attains 5 years.

thats super thanks. she will be exactly 4 years and 6 months by this years august intake, but that doesnt seem to b the "compulsory" commencement date. from what i can gather that would be indeed next year as you say after she is five. so i will pop and email off to pupil placement this morning telling them we no longer require their proffered place. thank you very much for the clarification, its really very much appreciated. x
