35% off subscription to digital literacy magazine
I'm one of two children's authors who have founded Start the Story, a bi-monthly digital magazine for teachers, parents, librarians, and anyone else with an interest in getting kids excited about reading and writing.
It's full of writing tips and activities, book reviews, author interviews and lesson plans. Our first issue is available to download free of charge at our website - www.startthestory.co.uk. You'll have to register, but no billing details are asked for, and the sign-up process should only take a couple of minutes.
Along with the first issue, and all future issues, you'll get a five-page "Pupil workbook" ready to print off for your children to work on.
We're steering clear of sticking to any curriculum, and are instead focusing on allowing children to engage with their creative sides. We'll be doing features on creating your own comics, writing a panto script, and lots more.
Issue two, which comes out next week, comes with a free and exclusive ebook - Battle Bugs - written by me. We think it's the world's first "Open Source" book, written specifically to be edited, adapted and changed in any way educators and children see fit. Want to add a new character, change the setting, or slot in a new sub-plot? Fire away!
We hope it's the sort of resource home educators will find useful, and so we're offering a 35% discount on the cost of subscription. Normal subscription price is £36 a year, which also grants you access to the member-only articles on the website, but for home educators it's just £23.40 for the full year. Just enter the code HOMEED0812 at checkout to apply the discount.
The first 100 subscribers will be entered into a draw to win £100 worth of books, and we have new competitions running every issue.
We'll also be offering subscribers the opportunity to share their pupils' work on the site, and will be running story-writing competitions on a regular basis.
I hope that all sounds of some benefit. If you have any questions, either ask me here, or fire an email to email@example.com and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
