Default How home education empowers families in tough times

I have posted this in the Old Chestnuts section as many detractors I have met over the years seem to believe that only well off people can 'afford to' home educate when that is simply not the case.

As the recession bites, this article from (the American) Home Education Magazine, How Homeschooling Empowers Families in Tough Times, makes interesting reading. It points to the the skills and attributes naturally developed by home educating families which stand them in good stead for dealing with economic and other challenges.

'Living lightly' is second nature to most home educating families I know, but 'failing to consume' is evidently a sin as far as the government is concerned.
